On 10 and 11 October 2006 a seminar entitled ‘Biodiversity offers opportunities: Regional and local initiatives for a greener Netherlands’ will be held at the Province House in 's-Hertogenbosch, Noord-Brabant. The seminar is being organized in the framework of 'Countdown 2010 in the region’ (financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) and will focus on the role of central, provincial and local governments, national and local enterprise, and national and local nature conservation organizations in achieving the 2010 biodiversity goal of the European Union. A wide-ranging partnership of organizations launched the Countdown 2010 initiative to stimulate participation in and awareness of this ambitious EU biodiversity goal, which is to halt the decline of biodiversity by 2010. The Province of Noord-Brabant was the first region in the world to join Countdown 2010. Click here for the seminar announcement, programme and a leaflet about Countdown 2010. (The seminar will be conducted in Dutch.) Also visit the new Dutch Countdown 2010 website, which ECNC helped to set up. For more information contact Natasja Hulst, Senior Project Officer. |
