Financing ecological networks in South-East Europe and the Black Sea region

11-13 April 2007, Istanbul, Turkey

From 11 to 13 April 2007 the seminar ‘Financing Ecological Networks’ took place in Turkey. The seminar brought together about 40 people from various countries in South-East Europe and the Black Sea region. It focused on training representatives of local and regional communities and NGOs for successful financing of ecological networks and protected areas. The training addressed bilateral funds, corporate and banking financing opportunities, EU funds and regional funds.

After three days of intensive training, the participants concluded that the tools and information provided during the seminar were extremely useful to them in developing projects and finding appropriate funding sources. The participants committed themselves to spread the information and knowledge gained during the seminar to other stakeholders in the region.

The seminar was organized by ECNC together with EUCC and Eurosite in cooperation with the SEENET focus group and Europa Media as part of the SEENET programme: Facilitating the establishment of the Pan-European Ecological Network in South-East Europe and the Black Sea Area. The seminar was funded by the BBI-Matra programme of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
